Housing prices up by 0.6 percent in June, following 0.5 percent in May
According to Eiendom Norge/Eiendomsverdi, housing prices rose by 0.6 percent m-o-m in June (seasonally adjusted), following +0.5 percent in May. As such, recent developments suggest some price acceleration following a subdued trend since last summer. Behind the figures we find that the general activity level has stayed well in the higher end. There is a solid number of existing housing units put on the market for sale, but transaction volumes are also elevated. We have long argued for a moderate price increase this year - despite rising completions and mortgage rates, with average housing prices rising by about 2-3 percent y-o-y (somewhat below the nominal wage growth rate). These expectations remain in place. In y-o-y terms, national housing prices rose by 2.6 percent in June.
