Fast Comment Finland — Surprisingly strong employment figures in December

Unemployment rate (SA) decreased to 6.6 percent in DecemberAccording to Statistics Finland's ILO/EU-compatible Labour Force Survey, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 6.6 percent in December 2018, which is as much as 1.7 percentage points fewer than in December 2017. In 2018, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was on average 7.4 percent, having been 8.6 percent in 2017.Number of unemployed persons decreased considerably in 2018 As the Finnish labour market generated plenty of new jobs during the year 2018, it seemed that the strongest phase of employment growth had taken place last spring.
