Longing for normality

The Fed's decision not to start tapering Sep 18 took everyone by surprise. The Fed had a window open to start a gradual and moderate process to withdraw from a full load of QE-stimulus, and the central bank did not use the window despite the market expecting it. Since this decision was taken, there have been more critical voices concerning the cost of this policy. Harvard professor Martin Feldstein wrote an interesting piece in Financial Times Sep 22, "The Fed is wrong to put off the return to normality". I think his reasoning is well argued and worth reading.
